We are very happy with the finished rear garden. We started with a very messy and uneven garden on 3 levels which we had no idea what to do with and Ian produced plans which has transformed it into the tiered easily maintained garden we ideally wanted. We were initially looking online and local trade magazines for inspiration as to who would be suitable to help us create a useful and attractive space. We had rung a couple of companies and spoken to them about our requirements but were not enthused by their attitude. Then one day we were travelling back from Teignmouth and the ‘GreatScapes’ vehicle was in front of us in the traffic. I mentioned the name to the children to remind me of the name of the company for when we returned home for me to look at online. I liked the look of your website and particularly the before, during and after photos which I found very helpful. Also so many positive comments. This was definitely worth a call. Ian was very easy to talk to and took our ideas on board and only offered advice if we asked for it. The work was carried out in very difficult weather conditions which made all of the teams efforts more challenging. There was a positive attitude throughout the works being carried out and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely give Ian a call should we need any further help with any other projects in the future and would recommend to others.

Ian is a friendly, amenable chap whose work is of a high standard, meticulous to detail and with no shortage of imagination.
Ian is always punctual and never lets us down. When he couldn’t make it (which was rare) or had to leave early for whatever reason we were always kept informed.
One of the most important things to me is being able to communicate with a tradesman and be comfortably able to change things if it wasn’t quite to your liking. On the few occasions that this arose it was carried out without any fuss.
Ian’s eye for aesthetic design has no equal from what I have seen on my many travels. He has carried out work for me a dozen or more times over the last 6-7 years, which I think is testament to my satisfaction of his work and our relationship.
Other than the first job that he undertook for us we have not sought other quotations, because he’s very fair, professional and above all can be trusted. We allowed him to carry out work while we were on holiday happy in the knowledge that on our return we would be satisfied and all would be well.
As I am a fussy old git, Ian would always ask my opinion at critical points in the construction and not press on regardless. I think that is his way of working anyway.
Work undertaken in our garden by Great Scapes has included; curved brick walls, brick slab, steps, oak sleepers, retaining wall beds, timber railings, imaginative wide curved timber steps, beautiful millboard decking, large water storage area and more..

Ian also has a dog called Mally. He is a gorgeous Collie X with a placid nature second to none. We would allow him freedom of the garden as he was no trouble at all and we became quite attached to the fellah.
We certainly like Ian very much, but we Like Mally better!!
